Run, don't walk! The 2008 Rock Slide is quickly approaching!
This year's 5K and 1 mile run/walk will be held Saturday, November 8th at Rock Canyon High School. For registration and information links, please visit the Rock Slide website at www.dcrockslide.com This run benefits our school so be sure to designate your entry as an American Academy registration. Plus, if we win the bonus prize ($1000 for our school) for the most registrations, Coach Bishop has agreed to run the race in a dress!!! At last check American Academy was in 2nd place with 15 registered runners! If you're not in shape just yet, join the AA Roadrunners every Tuesday & Thursday after school for conditioning training. Permission went home last week and another this week. ATTENTION middle school students! Here is a chance for you to earn some volunteer hours for your family! Become a "Trainer in Training". Lunch Menu
Please note that IF you paid for Pizza Friday, Sept. 26,2008. You will be credited for that day on Nov. 6th,2008. Also, Oct.10th is a half day of school and lunch will not be provided. Dismissal will be at 11:30am, through regular carpool .

Parent Portal...If only
we had better news. But alas, we are still in the same situation where your child's cumulative grade it not viewable on the Parent Portal. This is due to a software upgrade performed this summer which impacted many charter schools’ Portal view. Not only is there a help desk ticket opened with the district, but with the software company itself. It is a software issue. Unfortunately, we have not received an estimated time when it may be remedied. Please note that an update call is placed at least once a week. In the meantime, click on "Calendar", click on the "A+" symbol under one of the dates. You will be able to view points possible and points received for that particular assignment. This may help you gauge your student's progress. You may also contact the teachers if you have particular concerns. While this is not an ideal situation, we ask for your continued patience and understanding.

Fall Festival Friday October 31
Our Fall Festival will be on Friday October 31 @ 2pm. To kick off the festivities we will have our annual parade which will start promptly at 2pm followed by class parties. No Left Hand Turns Onto Park Meadows Drive
Please remember that there are no left turns onto Park Meadows Drive before or after school. We have hired Williams security to help us keep traffic moving and to monitor carpool. Please be considertate and respect the carpool policy. Thank you.
